Help Keep This Space for Caregivers Going

Putting out this newsletter a few times a week feels a lot like showing up to life as it is — unpredictable, imperfect, and full of moments we never asked for. Just like caregiving.

It takes heart, flexibility, and a deep well of acceptance — not of defeat, but of reality. I keep writing because I believe in walking alongside fellow caregivers as we learn to meet the chaos with compassion instead of resistance.

That said, keeping this going does come with its own challenges — including financial ones.

If this newsletter has helped you breathe a little easier, feel a little stronger, or simply reminded you that you're not alone in this journey — and you're in a position to do so — I’d be deeply grateful for a tip to help keep it going.

Whether you tip or not, I’m honored to be in your corner.

With heart,
Your fellow caregiver, Ben

Caregiver’s Corner: Radical Acceptance — the Quiet Superpower

Caregiving for someone with dementia often feels like a fight you didn’t sign up for. You brace for the next crisis, try to fix what can’t be fixed, and spend your energy resisting the reality in front of you—because it hurts. Because it’s unfair. Because you love them.

But what if the real strength isn’t in resisting, but in accepting?

Radical acceptance doesn’t mean giving up. It means stopping the war with reality. It’s the moment you stop asking, “Why is this happening?” and start asking, “Now that it is, how can I meet it with grace?”

It’s not passive. Instead, it’s powerful.

It’s choosing to meet your loved one where they are, even when they can no longer meet you where you are. It’s letting go of the version of the day you thought you’d have, and working with what exists right here and now.

Radical acceptance doesn’t erase the pain—but it softens the suffering. It opens up space for creativity, compassion, and even moments of peace in the chaos.
